Wash & Care Instructions

Because everyday should be this sun-drenched

How to care for your cyanotype

Like a beloved pair of jeans, natural dye will fade with time. This cycle is part of the beauty of this time-tested medium and I hope you will embrace the variations that occur. Following these tips will prolong the life of your garment’s print, which was created under the sunshine, with slow and deliberate care + love.

Tips:

Wash as little as possible.

Washing by hand is best.

When machine washing is desired, use cold water and liquid detergent on gentle settings.

Do NOT use a detergent containing bleach or sodium. Do not use powdered detergents. Here is a list of suitable detergents (click to purchase):

ECOMAX Concentrated Hypoallergenic Laundry Detergent, Dr. Bronner’s - Pure-Castile Liquid Soap, Biokleen Natural Laundry Detergent Liquid

Before washing, turn the garment inside-out to insure the cyanotype will not be affected by residue left behind in machine.

Dissolve detergent in water before adding to washing machine.

Air dry on low heat

To restore vibrancy to a faded garment, soak in a dilute bath of 3% hydrogen peroxide to 97% water for 1/2 hour.

And above all else, enjoy wearing your Terra Prints!
